Our privacy policy

Here we explain what information The Lion Coverage Rates gathers on thelioncoveragerates.com and through the quote form you can reach from it, what we do with that information and the options open to you.

Details you give us

The quote form asks questions about you, the vehicles you drive and your record on the road. Depending on how many steps you complete, your answers can include your name, street address and ZIP code, phone number and email address, birth date and marital status, details of your vehicles, your current insurance, and past claims or driving violations. You can skip any question, but we can't match you with a partner without this information.

What we record automatically

When you visit, the companies that host and secure our site log technical information such as your IP address, the kind of browser and device you use, the pages you request, the page that sent you here, and when the visit happened. We estimate your general location from your IP address so we can show material that applies to your state.

Cookies and browser storage

The form relies on cookies and similar storage in your browser to remember your answers from one step to the next. We also use them to learn how people move through the site and to measure which ads send visitors to us. Your browser settings let you refuse or delete cookies; doing so may break parts of the form.

Where your information goes

If you submit the quote form, we pass the details you entered to licensed insurance carriers, to insurance agencies and to marketing partners, who use them to prepare quotes and to get in touch with you. Sharing your details in this way is what the service exists to do, and it is how the service is funded.

Companies that work on our behalf, for web hosting, analytics, form handling, messaging and fraud prevention, also receive information so they can do that work. We may also disclose information when the law requires us to, or to protect people's rights and safety. Each partner that receives your details handles them under its own privacy policy from then on.

Consent to calls and texts

When you submit the form and accept the consent statement shown on it, you give the partners listed in that statement permission to reach you at the phone number you entered. They may call you using automated dialing technology, play prerecorded or artificial voice messages and send you text messages, even when the number appears on a do-not-call list. Giving this consent is not required as a condition of any purchase. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply.

Consent can be revoked whenever you choose by replying STOP to any text, telling the caller, or reaching us via our contact page. Revoking it with us does not revoke the consent you gave partners you were already matched with; let them know separately if you want them to stop too.

Keeping and deleting data

Submitted information is held only as long as these purposes and our legal and recordkeeping obligations require. After that we delete it or strip out anything that identifies you. Server logs are held for less time.

Your privacy rights

Some state laws give you rights over your personal information. Where they apply, you can ask to learn which personal details we keep about you, to see them, to correct or delete them, and to stop us from selling them or sharing them for advertising. California residents have these rights by statute, as do residents of other states with broad consumer privacy laws. Use our contact page to make a request. Making one won't change how we deal with you.

Children

The Lion Coverage Rates is meant for adults only. We don't knowingly gather personal information from people younger than 18.

Keeping information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect information, but no system can ever be made fully secure, so we can't promise complete security.

If we revise this policy, we'll publish the new text on this page and update the date shown above.
